Certain Hope in Uncertain Times | Pastor Greg | 3/18/20
Psalm 46:1 1God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
We are living in unprecedented times during the current Coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the world and now our country. It seems like things are changing so rapidly that it is hard to know what will happen next. This past week, The Lord reminded me that as His followers we have an ever present hope in the midst of trouble. The psalmist makes it clear that God is always available and that he wants to help us. He is our ever-present refuge and strength. We do not need to fear, rather we can cast our cares on Him for he cares for us.
These are comforting words in uncertain times. We have been reminded in the past week that real peace doesn’t come from our circumstances. We are not in control, but we can find hope in the only One who is in control. Listen to the words of Jesus who said in….
John 14:27 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
These scriptures convey to us that our inner peace and strength comes from our creator. We are in His hands and we can turn to Him anytime and anywhere. This truth gives us hope even in the midst of this current outbreak.
God has hit the pause button on what we consider normal and He is asking us to trust Him no matter what. We do not know what the future days hold, but we do know who holds the future. The really question is…Do you trust Him? Is He your certain hope in uncertain times? May we join with the Psalmist when he says in Psalm 91:2 2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
We can trust that God is at work during this pandemic. He is daily revealing His grace, His power, and His glory. May we seek Him in prayer as His people during this time. Pray that God would give you His peace and then pray about how he wants you to pass on His peace to others, especially those who have never known known it to begin with. Pray that God would protect and heal people both physically and spiritually during this season. After all, God is always on the move and sometimes he asks us to pause in order to see who and what matters most. How do I know…It’s in the Book…He says to all of us who have ears to hear…
Psalm 46:10 10“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
