Jesus Never Changes

Jesus Never Changes | Pastor Greg | 3/25/20

Hebrews 13:8   Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

When the world around us seems to be changing so rapidly by the day, where do we turn for some stability.  When the routines of your life are interrupted and even some of the relationships that you count on are stripped away…to whom do you cling?  We need to know now more than ever that there is a God who loves us and will be present with us no matter the storm.  In other words.  Those who belong to Jesus will never be alone.  How do I know?  It’s in the book:  Hebrews 13:5   God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

We can take comfort in these words knowing that the God who never changes promises to be with us no matter what we are going through.  In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we have had to change our routines to a new normal.  We have all had to change something in the midst of the past few weeks.  These changes can tend to have an effect on our attitude and not always for the better.  God wants us to know that we can find hope in the fact that regardless of what is happening around us that he is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  The bottom line is that this national and global crisis is not a surprise to God.  He remains in control.  God is the only answer to the questions that we have rolling around in our head as we face an uncertain tomorrow.

Listen to what God said years ago through the Psalmist to those who are righteous and trust in Him.  Psalm 11:3, 3When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?  This is a fair question for all of us to ask right now during this pandemic.  This is because the lives of some people are hanging in the balance, many jobs have been put on hold, relationships have been strained, and restrictions on our “freedoms” seem to change by the day.  So when we feel caught in an ever changing world, we should hold on to what God’s Word says about the one that we serve.  The Psalmist’s answer to the question above should give us the strength to carry on.  Listen to the very next verse:  Psalms 11:4   4The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne.

So the answer to all of our questions is a statement about our unchanging God.  He is the King.  He is on the throne.  He is in control.  We may not understand what is going on.  We may have no idea what tomorrow brings, but we do know who holds tomorrow in the palm of His hand.  There is one foundation for the righteous that will never be shaken.  He is the ultimate foundation for all of those who believe……and His name is JESUS!  Cling to the King in everything because He never changes
