The Cure

The Cure | Pastor Greg | 4/1/20

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  2 Corinthians 5:21

This week the United States CDC director said that “no one is immune” from the current Coronavirus that is spreading across the world and bombarding us from sea to shining sea.  This means that anyone can get it.  No matter their ethnic background, no matter how “healthy” they are, no matter their age, no matter their economic status.  The truth is that this virus is no respecter of persons and can affect anyone at any time.  Currently, there is no none cure.  However, this doesn’t mean that we need to live in fear.  Every day we must find our hope and refuge in the God who is in control.  However, it’s important to know what we have been saved from to know what we have been saved for.

This made me think of another virus that affects the heart of every person.  That’s right…we all have a sin problem and “No one is immune.”  How do I Know?  It’s in the book:   Romans 3:23   for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  We are all contaminated by the spiritual disease of sin.  It is inside of all of us, it spreads quickly, and it is very destructive both in this life and the next.

The good news is that there is a cure for this virus, a vaccine if you will, and it is 100% effective.  The cure has a name….and his name is JESUS!  The perfect son of God, Jesus Christ, came to earth as one of us over 2,000 years ago.  He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross for our sins in our place on that first Good Friday.  He took the punishment that we deserved so that we could have the hope of being cleansed from the penalty of sin once for all.  Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  This is a picture of the mercy of God.  God in the flesh, Jesus, sacrificed himself for you and me so that we could be forgiven and free from the inside out.  Christ’s resurrection was the exclamation point to the finished work of Christ

The cure can be applied to you today by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone when you believe in Jesus and His death for you on the cross and receive his forgiveness for your sins.  Look at the cure in action, Romans 10:9  That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved……how is this even possible….because…God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  2 Corinthians 5:21

It is comforting to know in the midst of these unpredictable days that there is a guaranteed solution to everyone’s biggest problemThe cure is available today so receive Him and then show others the way!
