Wake Up Call

Wake Up Call | Pastor Greg | 4/6/20

It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. Psalm 119:71

We need God. Period. However, far too often we live with God amnesia. We go
through our lives actually thinking that we are in control. That we can do just fine on our own,
that is until something so much bigger than us gets a little too close to home. Like a global
pandemic that hasn’t been seen in over 100 years. Only then are we willing to begin to take
God seriously.

God allows affliction in our lives so that we will see our desperate need for Him. To help
us to clearly understand that we really can’t live without his daily presence. Right in the middle
of the longest Psalm in the Bible we are reminded of the gracious and yet powerful hand of
God.

Psalm 119:72–74 72 The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of
pieces of silver and gold. 73 Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to
learn your commands. 74 May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my
hope in your word.

He gives us truth about himself that we must hold onto in the midst of this current
wake-up call. It’s time to be reminded of where our real hope comes from. It’s not our
creature comforts, its’ not entertainment, it’s nothing that has been created. Our hope
comes from the Creator alone. So when we wake up each day, God and His Word should be
front and center in our hearts and on our minds. After all, He is our lifeline and every breath
that we take is a gift from His hands.

So join me in praying for all peoples and nations to turn back to the one who made
them. This current wake-up call is an opportunity for revival. God is not surprised by this fiery
trial that we are facing and He is here to remind us that He will be with us. It is better to go
through the valley with Jesus than to walk on a mountain top without Him. This week as Easter
approaches remind others that this outbreak is not the end of the story for those who place
their faith in Jesus. How do I know? It’s in the book…..

4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
