SisterChix
Sister Chix is a Christian ministry devoted to providing emotional, practical and spiritual support to women who have been widowed or divorced.
Our mission is to support each other through acts of service, emotional support, spiritual support, prayer, and encouraging each other to fully trust and depend on the Lord for all our needs.
We meet the last Sunday of each month but are always available if you need or someone you know needs support.
We're Standing in the Gap for New Widows
Our Sister Chix group at CEFC has partnered with Stand in the Gap for Widows; a national and international movement equipping and empowering the local church to leave “no widow alone” in our churches and communities.
They serve widows’ groups all over the world to help support the leaders, so the leaders can support those in the group.
What Can You do for a New Widow?
Through our partnership with Stand in the Gap, we offer a 1st Response Basket to women who have just lost their husbands. The basket contains supplies for her to have on hand when people come to visit her or bring food. This enables her to just be cared for so she doesn’t have to think about anything such as buying paper plates, napkins, etc. or worry about washing dishes. If you know someone who has just lost her husband, give us a call and we will deliver a 1st Response Basket to her or provide one to you so you can take it to her.
Who are the Sister Chix?
Sister Chix is a group of women who have become single through the loss of a husband either through death or divorce. We meet once a month and have been meeting together since December 31, 2013. It’s our belief that being single due to these circumstances creates a need for support in ways that those who haven’t experienced this type of loss may not be able to relate to. The group developed as a means to encourage and support each other through our painful loss. We understand each other because we are where you are.
Our mission is to support each other through love, acts of service, emotional support, sharing meals, devotional time and prayer, and encouraging each other to fully trust and depend on the Lord for all our needs.

How to Become Part of
This Group
We invite other women who experience this type of loss to become part of this group. Please be aware that we hold all issues shared in the group in strict confidence. Having other women who are sharing your journey is priceless. We recognize how difficult it is to try to navigate life on your own as a widow or divorced woman and we want to provide you with a safe place to find support.
If you are interested in visiting our group please contact Christ Evangelical Free Church 570-386-4547 for more information about the group.
